A DunDilly Holiday Story, "Learning How To Share!"
Welcome to the 1st ever short story to get you in the holiday spirit! This is a story based on a true event many years ago! Enjoy!
When I was a young boy, my mom would come into the kitchen with groceries and all and my brother Adrain and I would be skimming the bags for some type of treat. My mom would bring us a single chocolate bar to share between us. We weren't rich at all so a single Hershies chocolate bar always tasted like heaven to us!
So my mother gave the chocolate bar to my brother who was older by one year. And you know when your older, you got first dibs on anything - its the law of the playground. So he grabs the chocolate bar and mother quickly says, "Adrian make sure you share that!" He reply's, "Oh, ok.." So my mother gives my brother a butter knife to cut the chocolate and continues to put away the groceries. Needless to say he cuts the chocolate bar with one half being bigger than the other. And he is so happy, he's reaching for the bigger part when suddenly, mother slaps his hand before reaching for it and says, "Jr., you choose which chocolate bar you want." I was so happy, I glazed at the large piece and took it and ran off! My brother says, "Why did he get the big one! That piece was for me!" My mother responds, "Since you cut the chocolate, he gets the first piece. Its your fault you cut the chocolate uneven, trying to be greedy."
Needless to say my brother Adrain always cut everything in half down the middle. And it made him a better person as well, thoughtful of others.
Well, thats all until the next story, come on back to hear about, "The Strength of Marriage" coming next week. Take care everyone, and be sure to share with one another! Spread the holiday spirit!
